In 2013, Dona was the co-recipient of a generous grant from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) for a several month long Artist-in-Residence at Noel Community Arts School, a "turn-around" school in Aurora, CO. Within the program, entitled "Stories Matter", she worked with students in a myriad of mediums including photography, design, and creative writing, the output of which resulted in a "life-sized book" installation that the students helped to create. This residency is still one of the high points of her long career working with young people and helping facilitate their creative expression.
